Attech legs to ledger and baseboard

It would have been much easier to use the project pipe from Lowes. And cheaper. But if you are stubborn like me, you will want a union joint to make the square top shape possible.

The live edge top I used already had the pre-routed joints but I did add biscuits for stability. I love biscuits, both for joining and the kind with honey and butter. Big fan.

Cut & Glue Top

A sturdy piece as wide as the tops of the legs that can be lagged into the wall is the key.

The piano hinge is key here to make sure it has a even support when folding along the whole length.

Attach Top

5

This can be done before or after attaching the wall ledger board. Remember to use pre-stain to get a more even color. Unless you love blotchy wood? I guess?

Stain & Finish

6

Either spray paint or otherwise finish the iron pipe. I went with a matte black finish.

Paint those legs

I used some Timberlock screws leftover from other projects to lag the ledger to the studs. You want some beefy screws here don't skimp.

Attach the ledger

Using some copper split pipe clamps, t-nuts and bolts I attached the legs to the ledger and the baseboard. The clamps let the legs swing freely. Felt pads on the bottom and pivot point help to keep things smooth.
