The Tree Farm Design Co. started as an outlet for sharing DIY projects, snippets of life on our land and plans for others to jump start their projects. This site is in its infancy and we don’t know where it’s going to end up but we’re hoping at least a few people are interested in coming along for the ride.
The name of the blog comes from the land that we live on, a tree farm where my father and I hand planted thousands of European Larch during my high school years. Most of the trees would fail due to the miserable blue clay soil, some questionable planting on my part and an abundance of hungry field mice. Those that did survive would prove to be some of the ugliest trees I’ve ever seen. However, all that time and energy helped instill a love for this field that one day would become a home for my wife, our five children and I, and out of that comes our desire to see it put to good use.
